Our beloved cafe

PK Farmer’s Market Table

Persephone’s Kitchen began in Persephone Brown’s home kitchen, where food was simply and lovingly prepared long before she opened her doors at 235 Dodge Street. Her journey started with baking for Juice n’ Java—once located in the very space her café now calls home—before she became a Health Coach, guiding others toward a more connected and intentional way of eating. This path naturally evolved into preparing meals for guided cleanses, and later sharing her dishes and baked goods at the Block Island Farmers Market, always rooted in her philosophy: simply and lovingly prepared.

In 2015, Persephone—a year-round island resident and mother of two—opened Persephone’s Kitchen. What began as a personal expression of care through food has grown into a beloved gathering place for both locals and visitors. Many return not just for the meals, but for the feeling of connection—a warmth that continues to live in every dish, still simply and lovingly prepared by a team that feels more like family.

Care, in all its forms, remains at the heart of what we do—something we speak to more below.
